Why did we start TAS?
» We love music. We have found some of our favorite songs ever because someone else passed them on to us. We wanted to create a place where people could share the songs that impact their lives.
Why the name TotallyAwesomeSong.com?
» Cause ‘OMGThisIsMyMostFavoriteSongEverInTheWorldILoveIt.com’ was too long. And, because we don’t take ourselves that seriously. We really just wanted something that described being excited about a song.
What are the requirements for a TAS song submission?
» Nothing really. Just awesomeness. …well, and a paragraph or 3 about the song. We want to hear the story behind the song
. We wont post submissions without a story, or this would just be a list of songs!
Does TAS have to like it?
» Haha, no. Just tell us why you think it’s awesome.
Can you submit more than one song?
» Yup! If you love music and are passionate about a lot of songs, tell us your stories! That’s the whole reason we started TAS, we love music!
Are submissions rejected?
» If you submit something that’s obviously not genuine, we obviously wont post it.
How often do we add new songs?
» Whenever submissions come in. It’s ongoing, so no limits.
Why do we manually update the site? Why don’t we just make it Web 2.0?
» Ummm – another social network? Pretty sure that need is good and covered.
Why do we only approve positive comments?
» Because it’s TotallyAwesomeSong.com, emphasis on the awesome. We want this to be a place where people celebrate music and spread positive energy. The internet is already insanely overdone with people bashing each other, and having comment arguments, and hiding behind a computer as they put other people down.
To us, life is meant to be lived amazingly, and we just don’t want to be part of all that negative energy :\. You might hate a song that changed someone else’s universe, and you may love a song someone else can’t stand. We don’t feel like it makes that much sense to criticize art or creativity. If you really want to be part of a website where people are negative and tear apart the songs people love, you can go buy this domain and make that site
.
Why do we have bands and artists verify?
» It’s to protect them and and their music. If we didn’t verify, we’d get submissions from “The Rolling Stones” or “The Beatles” saying their songs were all written about a girl named Susie in Arkansas. We want TAS to be a place where artists and bands can promote their music, or share the meaning behind the music with their fans. What we don’t want to do is disrespect anyone or have anyone’s music misrepresented.
Do we think we’re so awesome that we get to decide what’s awesome?
» Nope. We just love music. We genuinely just want to create something positive and connect people through music.
