Why We’re Buzzing…
We have become pretty seriously obsessed with an ep of acoustic songs we found on his band, The Mile After’s, Myspace page. Especially a song called ‘Something Real’. We’re pretty big acoustic nerds, and this song goes in our all time acoustic favorites. The ep is definitely one the albums we’ve had on repeat in 2010 for sure.

Chase Holfelder Interview…
We’re super stoked Chase took a sec to answer some questions for us. We learned he shares our love for the amazing band Slow Runner, and he’s a self-proclaimed computer nerd.
The TAS Kids:
At the time of this interview, you’re in the Top 10 of the Folger’s Coffee Jingle Contest. Congratulations! We would totally buy your song if it was a single haha. How did you get involved with that, and how stoked would you be to go to NYC and perform for Kara DioGuardi?!

Chase:
Thank you! I found out about the contest randomly on the internet on the day of the submission deadline, so I rushed into my room and wrote and recorded the jingle in about an hour. A week later, I found out that mine was selected out of 20,000 entries for the Top 10, which was ridiculously exciting. Performing for Kara DioGuardi would be SO awesome. Professional songwriting is pretty much my dream job, so I’d love to meet someone with such a successful career in the field. I just want to make the Top 5 so that can happen! Please head to http://www.bestpartofwakinup.com/contests/showentry/177460 to vote for me! You can vote once a day and could win $10,000 just for voting.
The TAS Kids:
Since you have the band, and you have your solo work, how does creating music for each situation differ? Do you find it easier to write in an environment with the other guys? Or does material come easier on your own?
Chase:
It’s actually the same, haha. All of my acoustic recordings are also The Mile After songs and vice-versa. When I finish writing a song for The Mile After, I record an acoustic version on my computer to send to the other guys. My solo EP is just a compilation of those first demo recordings.
The TAS Kids:
You mentioned Slow Runner as being amazing, and we have to agree. They pretty much own our universe haha
. Since you collaborate with alot of people, would that be your dream collaboration? They are pretty insane and hilarious and complete smart asses… would you be ready for the experience haha? You might not come out of it right in the head.
Chase:
Slow Runner is beyond amazing. Collaborating with them would be terrifying for me… and they wouldn’t bother with a silly pop-rock band such as us! They have bigger and better things to worry about, such as being complete musical geniuses. Aside from SR, I am in love with all of the Nickel Creek records. Working with them would be just as terrifying, but amazing nonetheless.

The TAS Kids:
What do you think the other guys would say is your biggest asset to the band? The fact the you’re so incredibly adorable, your unexplainable ability to grow so much facial hair for light haired kid(as seen in tour videos), or the possibility of endless amounts of free coffee if you win the Folger’s Contest?
Chase:
Facial hair. Definitely facial hair :-]~ Other than that, I’m the total internet/computer nerd. I’m everyone’s tech-support and run all of our social-network accounts. **pushes up glasses**
The TAS Kids:
Since you’re one of our PrettyPrincessGirls.com boy crushes, who’s your celebrity crush?
Chase:
Natalie Portman is my all-time celebrity crush… even with a shaved head (in V for Vendetta).
The TAS Kids:
Haha, that’s awesome, we love her too! We’re actually doing a ‘PrettyPrincessGirls.com’ feature on her environmental activism in the next couple weeks! Anywaayyyysss… thank you soooo much Chase! Good luck in the contest, and everyone go vote for him! …do it. And check out our Music Buzz next month for a feature on Chase’s band ‘The Mile After’.
